Take the Coltrane

Featuring the music of Gary Husband's Drive
Duration: 6:16

"Take the Coltrane," performed live by drummer/keyboardist Gary Husband and his new quartet, Drive. Taken from its debut, Hotwired, Drive features trumpeter Richard Turner, saxophonist Julian Siegel and bassist Michael Janisch.

Drive combines the acoustic post-bop sensibilities of Tony Williams' latter-day acoustic quintet and and Miles Davis' classic mid-'60s quintet with a wholly modernistic edge. Seamlessly integrating synths and electronics, Hotwired reveres the jazz tradition while, at the same time, looking to the future, creating a timeless blend that's undeniably Husband's best project to date as a leader.
