Teodora Brody

Born in Romania, and now based in Switzerland, Teodora Brody initially trained in classical jazz and rose to prominence in the late 1990s and early 2000s singing with legendary jazz pianist Johnny Răducanu.

Acclaimed for her extraordinary vocal power and creative vision, Teodora pioneered the fusion of jazz with Doina – Romania’s improvisatory folk singing tradition – and is widely credited with introducing international audiences to this extraordinary, deeply emotive music.

Always searching for new musical territories to explore, Teodora has performed alongside musicians including Stanley Jordan, Theodosii Spassov, Lars Danielsson, Johnny Răducanu, Les Paul, Curtis Fuller, Eric Legnini, Phillippe Duchemin, Guido Manusardi, Benny Rietveld, Daniele di Bonaventura, Ion Baciu and Al Copley. On the world stage, Teodora has regularly appeared at prestigious European jazz festivals including Montreux, Lugano and Marciac, and across the Atlantic she has performed at the US Library of Congress and the Corcoran Gallery of Art, and at legendary clubs including Iridium New York and Blues Alley in Washington D.C.

For his new record entitled Pendulum (2024 Pinch Records), Daniel has gathered some of New York’s most innovative and distinguished jazz musicians: Drummer Mark Whitfield Jr. (Kenny Garrett, Kurt Rosenwinkle), bassist Tamir Shmerling (Terri Lyne Carrington, Kevin Eubanks), flutist Itai Kriss (Pedrito Martinez, Avishai Cohen) and tenorist Jonathan Greenstein (Omer Avital, Itamar Borochov). Having performed together over the past year, the band further explores that elusive and magical balance between the power of clarity and the excitement of spontaneity. Listening to Meron’s enchanting compositions played by such heavy-weight jazz improvisers provides a captivating experience both live and on the record.

Born in Sardinia (italy ) 06/25/1967 I fell in love with a bass guitar when I was a 12 years old boy. Graduate on M.I. Los Angeles in 1994 and U. M. Rome on 1997. I have an handicap on my right hand, due to a mistake by the doctors when I was six years hold, that prevent me to use all fingers. In effort to overcome my disability I worked hard on my own technique for play like a normal people, just because the passion is stronger than destiny. Musician and composer, session player for many artist in a live show, and studio session player for noumerous label and artist. My songs are insipired by all the different sounds I manage to extract from my 6 strings basses including what may sound like a conventional guitar when i use it as an harmonic instruments as oppose to a slap or a straight forward fretless melodic one. I recorded three album at my own names.

Filippo Bonaccorso

Starting out on piano and drums, Filippo Bonaccorso gradually moved from being self-taught at a young age to attending several prestigious music schools, where he had the opportunity to study with teachers such as Agostino Marangolo, Giuseppe Urso, and Giovanni Renzo for a basic foundation in jazz.

He also attended many clinics (e.g., Giulio Capiozzo, John Scofield) and seminars (Roccella Jonica, Berklee-Perugia, Siena, Nuoro, Avigliana), where he honed his individual drumming technique with Eric Echampard, Ron Savage, Tyshawn Sorey, and Ettore Fioravanti. He also studied new techniques in collaborative improvisation with Claudio Lugo, theory and analysis of harmonic improvisation with Larry Monroe, and atonal composition and improvisation with George Garzone.

Eddie Jak Neumann

Eddie Neumann was born in communist Romania at a time when jazz was almost banned. He first came into contact with jazz when Dave Brubeck came to Moscow in 1987. 11 years later, he recorded the first live jazz CD ever to be published in Romania (Changes, 1998) along with the Jazz Unit band. The resulting sexted received the Jazz Album of the Year award from the Romanian Union of Composers in 2000 for their album From Now On. Eddie is the mastermind behind the revered Romanian nu-jazz band Blazzaj, for which he wrote music and lyrics. After a short stint in West London, where he played jazz, klezmer and world music with several bands and produced his own electronic music called Electric Vulcans, he relocated to Romania, where he continues touring and recording with various ensembles crossing the jazz and ethnic music realms.

When she moved in Granada and after that in Triana, the district of Sevilla, - the craddle of cante hondo - she started adopting this complicated art from traditional singers and old men who generously opened their secrets for her. She has performed in the big musical shows Flamenco: Inside and Outside, Picasso (Russia) and Gypsy Soul (USA)
