Dolphin Blue

Dolphin Blue - Songs of Tom Waits As one of the last living legends, Tom Waits has sung himself into the hearts of the underdogs since 1973. Two decades later, German duo Dolphin Blue (Peter Koch, vocals, and Matthias Kahlmann, piano & guitar) was taking up the challenge to present the thrilling music of the "garbageman of the American dream" along with Waits' remarkable and famous voice - in a way that makes the audience forget about all the other artists who have (sadly) been trying to raise Waits' compositions up to a level of mainstream or easy-listening-music. The repertoire of Dolphin Blue consists of every kinds of stylistic periods that Waits went through up to now - there is blues, jazz and rock, as well as polka, tango, rhumba - and not to forget the melancholical ballads with which Waits has build up a reputation as one of today's most influential songwriters. When performing live, Koch's extraordinary voice and Kahlmann's sometimes sensitive, sometimes aggressive piano-playing always create a unique and magical atmosphere.
