A native of the San Francisco Bay Area, she studied classical piano as a child for several years under the tutelage of her piano teacher mother and New York pianist Vladimir Pleshakov. She brings a high level of musicianship to her performances. Her jazz training includes study at the California Jazz Conservatory, private study with master vocal teacher Jane Sharp, and study/performance with Molly Holm and the Impermanent Ensemble, an a capella jazz vocal group, and coursework with Roger Letson at Contra Costa College and in Paris. She draws her repertoire from an eclectic array of lesser-known jazz standards, Brazilian grooves, as well as modern composers such as Herbie Hancock, Chico Pinheiro and Chris McNulty
