Santiago Sandoval

Santiago Sandoval is a jazz guitar player based in Bogotá, Colombia. He was born in October 28th of 1989 in a renowed family of musicians. He is son of the legendary drummer German Sandoval and nephew of pianist Orlando Sandoval. Since little, Santiago showed music skills playing piano and singing. Later he chosed electric guitar as his main instrument. He studied at Universidad Sergio Arboleda, where he won various scholarships and talent contests. In 2015, he won an scholarship granted by Fundacion Carolina and went to Barcelona, Spain, to do a Master’s degree in performance

Colombia Andean Jazz Created by Javier Pérez Sandoval & Francy Montalvo. Playing since 2006. Carrera Quinta´s New album "Big Band" has been nominated for the Latin Grammy in the categorie of best Latin Jazz Album. In 2015 Carrera Quinta decided to come back to the studio and record a new album with a Big Band. Conducted by Colombian Director Ricardo Jaramillo and Recorded by the Latin Grammy award winner engineer Mauricio Cano, the 19 piece Band went to the studio and recorded something unique and special in Colombian music history. The album features compositions awarded in 2013 by Bogotá´s department of Arts, Idartes, and one piece commissioned by Bogotá´s Jazz Festival, Jazz al Parque, in 2014

En el 2009 conoce al maestro Óscar Acevedo quien por un tiempo le ofrece guía en el género, y que posteriormente le presenta al maestro Enrique Mendoza, con quien estudia durante la mayor parte de su carrera en la Javeriana, iniciada en el año 2012

Currently, Juan is playing with AKA TRIO, MÈDULLA and AHUM. On february 2018 he forms a duo called Mèdulla with drummer Pedro Acosta, the duo explores the pc as part of the music and the timbre, they improvise over original compositions, standards and popular songs. Also, alongside Pedro Acosta and Kike Harker, on 2018 they decided to start a new project, trio style AKA TRIO. The trio have a strong influence of 1950´s BlueNote Artists such as Jackie McLean, Lee Morgan, Louis Smith, Hank Mobley, Kenny Drew, Curtis Fuller, Sonny Stitt among others and a great influence by Colombia roots music

Born on May 4th 1994 in Dubai, UAE, guitarist Juan Dhas was immersed in music from the very beginning. At the age of 8, he began classical piano studies under Anton Tajanlangit, a member of the musical Tajanlangit family from the Philippines. However, Juan’s true passion for the guitar was ignited upon hearing a Hendrix album his father had bought; completely awe-struck, he asked his parents if he could study guitar. Juan’s wish was granted when he began studying with another Tajanlangit family member, Peter Tajanlangit, who saw great potential in Juan and nurtured his abilities over the coming years.
