Dear fellow AAJ contributors,

We made several improvements to the article submission form and the article display page and wanted to bring them to your attention:

  1. New Article Submission Form: WYSIWYG
  2. Editorial Comments Pop Up Box
  3. Help Create Musician Profiles
  4. Embed Videos in Your Articles

New Article Submission Form: WYSIWYG

Understanding basic HTML is no longer required when submitting articles. Thanks to our new text editor, you can highlight album titles and italicize them at the click of a button. You can bold header text, insert photos, insert links, and more. It works just like a standard text editor toolbar and will be a real time saver. You can work within the WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) box or you can click the "Source" button and add HTML tags the old fashioned way.

We also streamlined the input effort by moving text boxes to more logical spots on the submission form.

Editorial Comments Pop Up Box

To get a quick snapshot of your article's editorial changes, click the speech balloon icon to the left of the title of your article. TIP: The box will not pop up until the page fully loads.

Help Create Musician Profiles

Just like adding record labels, if you write a review or article about a musician who does not have a profile, please add it. Ideally, we want to associate a musician profile with every article we publish.

To create a profile, go to the Musician Center and click "SUBMIT PROFILE" link.

Embed Videos in Your Articles

You can make your article or CD review really shine by adding a video to it. We also feel supporting your words with a video performance will leave a much stronger impression on the reader.

If you need help adding a video to your article, click the "What's this?" link next to the "YouTube/Daily Motion video tag" box on article_edit.php. YouTube makes the embedding process simple, so please choose videos for your future articles.

We also highlight video-supported articles with a video icon at the Article Center to make them easier to identify.

Thanks for reading.

Michael Ricci
