PERFORMANCE/TOUR: Mega Concert "The 3 Accordions" - Richard Galliano - Frank Marocco - Coba

To mark the Ninetieth anniversary of Victoria Accordions there was a truly superlative concert held in Tokyo. A mega-event of no equal, for there were three of the most famous Accordionists in the world together on stage in the Megura Permission Hall, a 1200 seat Theater with excellent acoustics.

Richard Galliano (France), Frank Marocco (USA) and Coba (Japan) enchanted the audience with a concert program lasting approximately 2 hours, during which each Artist had the opportunity to present their own repertoire, but also to play together in duo and trio fashion. The concert began with a solo by Coba who was accompanied by Tomo (Drums) and Armano (Guitar), two fantastic Japanese Musicians and the French Double-Bass player Jean-Philippe Viret, who normally plays with Richard Galliano. Coba played his original Rock-Pop Music greatly exciting and energizing the audience. He followed this with a duo piece with Frank Marocco "Estamos Ai". Frank Marocco touched the Hearts of the Japanese with his solo piece "With a Song in My Heart", and then changing the genre to the world of American Bebop- mainstream Jazz. Pure American Jazz history--a master of the old school, enchanting the audience with this Music. To crown this, Frank Marocco and Richard Galliano played in Duo, the Jazz classic "Bluesette", having so much fun they appeared to be dancing as they improvised. It was like a conversation between 2 old acquaintances. Incredible touching moments. Richard Galliano then followed with his solo piece "Aria", an original composition in classical style. This took the audience into another world. He then followed with more originals with Bassist Jean-Philippe accompanying--a dialogue of Accordion and Double Bass traveling with the audience in Music full of Harmonies and Rhythms between New Musette, Classical and Jazz. After the trip from Japan to America to Europe the 3 players took the stage together. With Cobas' Jazz-rock song "Merged Cloc" the debut of the Great 3 of the Accordion began. A fusion of 3 genres, Rock, New Musette, and Jazz...

Rather, they dive headfirst into the complex Afro-funk grooves and highlife melodies with the aplomb of Naked-era Talking Heads, delivering a tight, thunderous homage to the West African guitar pop of King Sunny Ade on their incredible eponymous debut...
