A Classic YES Tribute
Envision | Envision Productions

“Why bother,” some might ask. “Just buy the original discs by Yes,” you might hear said. If that’s your limited attitude then quit reading now. See the next review.

However . . .

If like me, you were dazzled by Yes in the “good olde days”, had your neurons re-wired by Yes, and spent hours immersed in the alternate realities Yes sculpted, then you’d best keep reading.

Envision is a tribute band out of Ohio, USA. Simply put, they are AMAZING. This release sounds almost exactly like Yes. “Melissa”, yes, a fine-voiced woman, is the lead vocalist and covers Jon Anderson’s ethereal vox parameters with graceful ease. “Is this Melissa or Jon guesting?” Amazing! And I must say harmony vocals served up by guitarist and bassist reflect that Yes-sugary blend. Matt Riddle on keys exudes the Kaye/Moraz/Wakeman aura all over the place. Amazing. John Kastelic’s axework is a “how’s-he-do-that?” joy to experience. Alex MacDonald knows his Squire-basslines in tight grooves. He’s a real “fish out of water” and if you don’t get that inside-Yes-compliment, you ain’t no Yes fan. And Marty Zlocki is a phatly, solid Bruford, (70s era that is), drummer with “The Ancient” ties to deep inspiration.

Envision is Yes REBORN, the ravages of time REMOVED, and the original sacred fires of aural excellence REKINDLED. My hat’s off to you Envision, three thumbs up, and my ears are smiling. Melissa, Matt, and crew — you have touched one of the cornerstones of Art Rock and the foundation shook! A golden rain of glistening prog gems lays at your feet. Well done!!

Tracks:“Siberian Khatru”, “Wondrous Stories”, “All Good People”, “South Side of the Sky”, “America”, “Long Distance Runaround”, “Heart of the Sunrise”
