Terry Gordon

Terry Gordon is active in a wide variety of musical styles from jazz, Latin, and big band, to rock, classical, and contemporary Christian worship music. He performs regularly with Alex Torres y su Orquesta, the Terry Gordon Quintet, the Arch Stanton Quartet, and Brass-O-Mania. He has appeared at major venues such as the Montreal International Jazz Festival, the Rochester International Jazz Festival, the Cairo International Jazz Festival, and Lincoln Center, and has appeared in programs with Bobby Rydell, Leslie Gore, and The Temptations. With Alex Torres he can be heard in several television shows and movies including Walt Disney’s Old Dogs and HBO's White House Plumbers, and with the Empire Jazz Orchestra he has backed up such jazz luminaries as Jimmy Heath, Benny Golson, Randy Brecker, Slide Hampton, Rufus Reid, Lew Soloff, Wycliffe Gordon, The Four Freshmen, and David “Fathead” Newman.

Composer, trumpeter, improviser, poet, conductor, educator and visual artist – was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He completed his early studies at the Conservatory Superior of Music in Buenos Aires, received his B.F.A. in Composition and Trumpet Performance at the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts), and a Ph.D. in Composition at The State University of New York, Stony Brook.

He studied trumpet with Arturo Sandoval, Edward Carroll, Eric Aubier, Howie Shear, Bill Bing, Gabriel Archilla and Osvaldo Lacunza, and has studied with composers such as Stephen Lucky Mosko, Anne Lebaron, Wadada Leo Smith, Ivo Medek, Bunita Marcus, Peter Winkler, Daria Semegen, and Sheila Silver.

Early in his life Gerhard learned to play the trumpet, performing in marching bands. In his teens he focused on the guitar and piano, subsequently studying classical music and Jazz at the universities of Karlsruhe, Germany and Graz, Austria, and later on teaching guitar and improvisation at the popular Jazz & Rock Schule Freiburg. Performing with internationally acclaimed musicians and touring with his own Jazz/Rock Quartet throughout Europe initialized his passion for composing and blending multicultural influences in his works.

Trumpeter, composer, educator, and recording artist Jun Iida (Joon Ee-da) has quickly established himself as a highly sought after musician. A recording and performing artist, Iida has performed extensively throughout the U.S. at notable jazz clubs, theaters, and festivals with his sextet and as a sideman.

Originally from St. Louis, MO, Iida has lived in Seattle, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Los Angeles, and has recently relocated to New York City. Iida has internalized the different styles of music from each region, making his approach to composing and arranging appealing and unexpected with his subtle amalgamation of contemporary jazz, blues, pop, hip-hop, soul, and classical music.

Thomas Palance

Thomas Palance is known for his versatility as a trumpet player and innovative teacher. Tom started The Orchestra On The Hill in 2007 with five members. Since then, the orchestra has grown to a full professional ensemble delighting audiences with unique concerts. Tom retired from the US Navy Band in Washington DC after 20 years of service where he was the named "The most versatile trumpet player in the US Navy."

At the band Tom held positions of assistant principal trumpet and soloist with the concert band, and soloist with The Commodores Jazz Band. In 2005 Tom relocated to Ipswich, MA with his family where he is a freelance trumpet player, composer, conductor and teacher. Tom has served on the faculty at The Boston Conservatory, The University of New Hampshire and Salem State University and is now a professor at The Berklee College of Music.

Jason Schneider is a popular jazz trumpet player in Germany‘s Rhine-Main metropolitan region, who appears both as a soloist and as a section player. Even before he completed his studies with Axel Schlosser in 2009, he was active in countless formations. Jonathan Saraga

Born:

Jonathan Saraga is a New York City-based trumpeter, composer, arranger, producer, educator and Doctor of Musical Arts. He won the International Trumpet Guild Jazz Solo Competition in 2007 and competed as a finalist in the 2009 Carmine Caruso International Jazz Trumpet Solo Competition. He has been selected for four intensive and/or residency programs including the 2011 School for Improvisational Music Summer Intensive Program, the 2015 Banff International Summer Intensive Program in Jazz and Creative Music, the 2019 Banff Early Fall Musicians in Residence program and the 2021 Chashama chaNorth Artist in Residence program. Additional residency related accolades include finalist status in the 2021 Haleakala National Park Artist in Residence program and waitlist status for the 2021 Millay Colony of the Art’s Core Residency program. Jonathan has also competed as a finalist in three jazz-trumpet vacancy auditions—the Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra (2020), U.S. Navy Band Commodores (2021) and the Air Force Academy Band (2021). In 2022, he became a selected member of the Recording Academy’s New York Chapter.
