Paragon

It’s a conversation that goes round in circles because there’s always an angle you haven’t heard yet. Paragon are a travelling band. They tour countries and influences alike, from Brooklyn ballads to Venezuelan merengue to Bollywood bhangra. Imagine the classic Jazz quartet going back to the 1970s after backpacking in Eastern Europe and jamming with 21st century Balkan folk bands. Send them off to see a Glenn Gould recital before stopping off for afternoon tea with Pannonica de Koenigswarter in NYC and you might hear something of what goes on in the back of the Paragon tour bus. Emiliano Lasansky

Born: January 6, 1993

Emiliano Lasansky is a jazz musician, bassist, composer and educator currently based in New York City. Originally from Iowa City, Iowa, Emiliano is the grandson of artist Mauricio Lasansky and was born into a family of visual artists. From an early age he spent much time in his families’ studios surrounded by their art. Emiliano began on violin and electric bass at a young age, but switched to upright bass as his interest in jazz grew. After graduating from Iowa City West High, Emiliano attended the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York where he studied with professor Jeff Campbell
