Robert Rawlins

Born:

Robert Rawlins is Professor of Music Theory at Rowan University, where he has taught for 20 years. He received his Ph.D. in Musicology from Rutgers University. Rawlins is the author of six books, including Jazzology and The Real Dixieland Book, and has published more than 100 articles in dozens of journals, including Downbeat, Jazz Educator's Journal, American Music, Popular Music and Society, and The Journal of Popular Culture. In addition, he has written liner and program notes for dozens of CDs and concerts. Robert plays the clarinet, saxophone, and flute and has been a professional musician his entire life

John Guida

John Guida is a South Jersey native who grew up in a musical family. It was this early exposure that instilled John’s lifelong passion for music, His musical career began when he played on the Steel Pier while still in high school. Later he toured the country with the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra and then returned to the Atlantic City music scene where he played at the 500 Club, Club Harlem, and with the Ice Capades Orchestra. John was a charter member of the Si Zentner Orchestra at Resorts International, the first casino to open in New Jersey. He has also played with other big bands including Harry James, Mercer Ellington, Ray Anthony, and Billy May. John has performed with many of the musical legends of our time, including Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Diana Ross, Tina Turner, Ella Fitzgerald, Rosemary Clooney, Mel Torme, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Diane Carrol, Nancy Wilson, Harry Connick, Jr., Natalie Cole, The Temptations, Lady Gaga, and many others

Ted Chubb was still in his teens when he realized music was his calling. “When I was 10, the band instruments were demonstrated at school and it was never a question of if I was going to play, only which one,” he says. “For some reason the trumpet just felt like my voice. Once I began playing, it felt a part of me.” For more than two decades now, music—specifically jazz—has defined Ted Chubb. The multi-faceted artist has not only expressed himself as a trumpeter but has also displayed a unique voice as a composer
