Bryson Kern
Bryson Kern is emerging as a unique voice on the drum set, gaining prominence and notoriety for his sensitive, yet creative approach to the instrument. Bryson has performed with such jazz notables as Fred Hersch, Benny Golson, Terell Stafford, Joel Frahm, Ingrid Jensen, Michael Weiss, Melvin Rhyne, and Nneenna Freelon. Bryson attended the Indiana University School of Music, studying with teachers David Baker and Steve Houghton. After receiving a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies in the spring of 2004, Bryson relocated to New York City, where he continues to reside. He is a member of the BMI Jazz Composers Workshop/New York Jazz Orchestra and can be seen as both a leader and sideman playing throughout the city.
