Born:

Jon Notar began playing the piano at the age of 10, discovering his love for jazz in high school. He currently attends New School University , in Manhattan, where he is a fifth year student working towards a double degree in Jazz Performance and Science. Jon is also an avid composer and writes and arranges music for his quintet. He has studied with Marc Copeland, John Hollenbeck, Craig Taborn, Dick Hyman, Bill Charlap, Tony Malaby and Eric Reed. The Winard Harper Sextet is his professional debut with whom has toured extensively around the country for the past year; and has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with jazz greats including: Frank Wess, Billy Taylor, Winard and Phillip Harper, Don Braden, Ronnie Cuber and Grant Stewart, among others.
