Branka Parlic

Born: June 23, 1955

Pianist Branka Parlić is one of the most prominent interpreters and promoter of New Music in ex-Yugoslavian region. She graduated from the Faculty of Music at the University of Arts in Belgrade, Serbia where she studied under Professor Olga Mihailovic in the late 1970s. She later refined piano skills at the Summer Music Academy in Nice under Paris Conservatory professor Pierre Sancan. Since 1986 Branka Parlić exclusively focused her work on the music of French composer Erik Satie as well as to 20th and 21st Century New Music – Minimalism and Post Minimalism. She released the vinyl Initiés (1988), CD Initiés ’88 - Initiés ‘99 (1999) with music by Erik Satie, and the CD Metamorphosis (2004) with Philip Glass’s piano pieces
