Recently releasing his third CD, "Cinema 57", Portland saxophonist/composer Dusty York, (Oct. 15, 1978), has been a unique voice in today's NW jazz scene with his warm, distinct sound, and uncompromising individuality. Playing all original compositions and performing frequently with his father, tenor saxophone virtuoso Michael York, Dusty York Trio has provided his own sound amongst the wealth of jazz talent that Portland has to offer. He has developed an improvising style that has departed from the conventional bebop/blues based standard, with a stronger emphasis on rhythm, unique phrasing, extended thematic and dynamic development, and at times..
