Dan Jonas

A trumpeter, composer, and educator, Dr. Daniel Jonas is currently Assistant Professor of Music at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah, where he directs the Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combos, and teaches all jazz curriculum. A native of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Dr. Jonas received his D.M.A. in Jazz Studies from the University of Colorado in 2013. He also holds a Master's in Jazz Studies from DePaul University (2005) and a Bachelor's in Trumpet Performance from the University of New Mexico (2003). He performs regularly in the Salt Lake City area with the Night Star Jazz Orchestra and the gypsy jazz band Hot House West, in addition to leading his own groups

Born in Pittsburgh, PA., Bill Tole comes from a musical family. His father was a high school band director and a representative for Selmer and King musical corporations for many years and has been active as a professional trombonist and pianist. His mother also plays the piano, and for many years performed as a vocalist and accompanist for master chorales in Western Pennsylvania. Until retirement, she was a music teacher for children with special needs. His parents both have been a tremendous influence on Bill developing an appreciation and love for the art.
