Avi Granite

Born:

Avi Granite is a guitarist and composer best known for his Toronto based improvisational sextet Avi Granite 6. Granite calls New York City home where his work is performed by his quartet Verse and experimental project Graphic Tongue. His most recent effort “Together Song - The Improvisations of Daniel Carter and Avi Granite Vol.1” features Granite in duet with multiinstrumentalist and NYC free music scene legend Daniel Carter.

 

Granite has performed around the globe and studied with some of the best. He completed his undergrad at Humber College in Toronto and received his masters from NYU. As a composer he has been commissioned by play-writes and string quartets. He has composed for commercials, tv shows, and film. Honored as guest lecturer at several universities Granite has also developed creative workshops for corporate education. He is sole proprietor of Pet Mantis Records.
