Musician

John Amato

Born:

I have taught guitar (jazz specialty) for over 30 years, and have been playing professionally since 1972. I attended Berklee School of Music in '75 and achieved an A.A degree in Jazz Arranging via correspondence courses. I was a music minor/education major in Pace University and graduated in 1974. I attained a Masters in Education from Jersey City Sate University in 1982. I continued and enhanced my guitar/music education through the 70s and 80s with private lessons from Pat Martino, Barry Galbraith, Larry Lucie (Louie Armstrong), Rob Yelin, Jimmy D'Angelis, and a host of clinics, workshops, and the National Guitar Workshop camp in Connecticut. I've led a number of jazz bands through the years, including off broadway productions ("Man of Lamancha," 1986)
