Jeff Platz
Born:
Jeff Platz, New York, Boston area guitarist composer, has toured extensively for the past decade throughout the U.S. and Europe. He has performed in various music festivals worldwide such as New York City’s What is Jazz? festival, the Heidelberg jazz festival, Amsterdam Crossing Borders festival, the Munster International Jazz festival in Munster Germany and most recently the Bia Jazz Festival in Milan Italy. The Berlin based music journalist Wolf Kampmann writes, “Platz’s music is generous although never accidental. The secret of its uninhibited quality lies more in Platz’s playful use of the familiar where intuition, feeling, and memory are the most important navigational instruments”

Jeff Platz / Max Goldman / Brendan Carniaux: With Orbit
by Mark Corroto
If we had to categorize the sounds of Jeff Platz, Max Goldman, and Brendan Carniaux, we might call it sneaky music. Not sneaky as in deceitful, more like wily or sly. Partly composed, mostly improvised, With Orbit trades in the art of sleight of hand. For instance the opening track Lost To History" leads off with ...

Igor Osypov Quartet: Dream Delivery
by Dave Wayne
Igor Osypov's debut album, I (Unit Records, 2015), was quite promising in many ways. Yet, it was a snapshot of an artist still in the formative stages of the craft. Thus, the content of the Berlin-based plectrist's Dream Delivery came as a pleasant shock. Seemingly, within the past year, Osypov has taken prodigious strides towards staking ...

Fabio Delvò: Rastplatz
by Dave Wayne
I became aware of Fabio Delvo's music via his recordings with guitarist Jeff Platz. Platz has an ear for first-rate musicianship, and his recordings with lesser-known European musicians such as Delvo, Jan Klare, and Meinrad Kneer have been nothing short of revelatory. The title of Delvo's second album as a leader, Rastplatz, isn't a tribute to ...
