Musician

Eitan Kenner

Born:

Eitan Kenner is an award-winning keyboardist, composer, and music producer. Born in Tel Aviv, Eitan began studying classical piano at the age of 6. After dropping out early from Jazz high school, he attended and graduated from Berklee College of Music before relocating to New York City. A versatile musician described as a musical wizard, Eitan has become one of the leading young forces both as a band leader of a highly praised genre-bending project named Kenner and as an in-demand sideman in the NYC Jazz scene.

Kenner’s debut album “8Ball City” has been described as a “superb, genre defying instrumental album” (Progressive Rock Central) and “chord progressions [that] climb ever heavenward” (All About Jazz). The album gained much positive attention globally, from the Jazz, Progressive Rock, and Gospel communities with many reviews and radio plays worldwide.

At least he said he did, although one searches in vain for a recorded example (other than a snatch on You Tube). A listener might think, “Well, Simon was of the old school, and Curtis-trained, so it would require some imagination." ...

Fusion Frenzy?

Read "Fusion Frenzy?" reviewed by Patrick Burnette

We think of fusion as a music of the seventies, but its traditions live on today as various artists return to the genre to try out new experiments as well as offer their own spins on older approaches. This podcast looks at two somewhat uncharacteristic examples of fusion from the seventies—one a studio-band workout on pop ...

Kenner: 8Ball City

Read "8Ball City" reviewed by Patrick Burnette

Although the promotional material indicates that keyboardist/producer/composer Eitan Kenner was experiencing personal turmoil during the creation of 8Ball City, the music is upbeat, almost giddy. Helium powered synths spin out surging melodies against compound rhythms and chord progressions climb ever heavenward. Call it “happy prog," complex, cheerful music that nods to Frank Zappa without getting clenched ...
