Brendan McGrath is a professional pianist, composer, and teacher from Amiskwaciwâskahikan, so- called Edmonton, Alberta, on Treaty 6 territory. As a player McGrath focuses on improvisation, primarily performing and recording as a solo improvising pianist, leader of a jazz piano trio, and interpreter of J.S. Bach. McGrath sees iconoclasm as a way to honour tradition, and strives to record and perform challenging interpretations of classical works, Jazz standards, and contemporary pieces. McGrath earned his BMus from MacEwan University in Jazz and Pop Performance in 2017, studying with musicians like Chris Andrew, Kent Sangster, and Jim Head

Award-winning bassist and composer, Rubim de Toledo combines the influences of his Brazilian heritage and his dedication to the jazz tradition, to create an approach to music that is refreshing and uplifting. Boasting a diverse rhythmic palette inspired by world music, jazz, and contemporary music, a lure towards improvisation and a forward-looking traditionalism, Rubim nurtures a commanding sound and style as a bassist, soloist, and composer.

The band Bones From Underground first embarked on their musical voyage of discovery together as a cohesive Jazz Band in 2019. But their origin goes back earlier to when the band members made significant steps in the freelancing and teaching music world.

Audrey Ochoa

Marco Katz

Born: March 16, 1957

Marco Katz composed and performed the soundtrack for the 2000 production of Zoey’s Zoo (Oh Yeah! Cartoons). His recording of "Tubby the Tuba Meets a Jazz Band" came out on Koch in 2007. Marco has recorded with Charlie Palmieri and other artists. Marco’s compositions and arrangements have been performed at Carnegie Hall and Avery Fisher Hall and published by Bourne, Carl Fischer Music, International Music, and Kendor. His publications also include articles in Popular Music and Society.
