Yulia

Born:

The roots of Yulia Petrova’s extraordinary & exquisite technique as an artist & composer today, can all be traced back to the earliest days of her childhood, when she first discovered her connection to music by learning how to play piano at the age of five.  Though extremely young at the time, it was instantly clear she had a genuinely special gift and exceptional talent for her age, and it was only three years later before Yulia began to compose her very first songs, establishing her passions & pathway forward in life.

With a natural skillset that was undeniably unique, Yulia attended a dedicated music conservatory in the city of Novosibirsk in Russia, and continued to educate herself both inside & outside of school.  While she studied Classical music during her teenage years, she also expanded her palette in listening outside of school-hours, soon learning that her interests included Rock, Blues, Fusion, and eventually, even Jazz. Yulia’s love for multiple styles of music would come in more than handy – before she was even finished with her studies, she was already writing original songs for advertising companies and teaching her own students.  Her diverse musical taste pointed towards her destiny, and helped shape her future to follow.

Terry Wollman

One of premier guitarist and arranger Terry Wollman’s early influences was the seminal soul band, Tower Of Power. After recovering from a hip injury a few years ago it was playfully suggested that he include “What Is Hip?” in his live show. Terry took the idea to heart and decided to put his own unique spin on this iconic song. The new single featuring Wollman’s signature acoustic guitar melodies, funky electric guitars, sizzling horn arrangement, and hitmaker band has everything needed for this high-energy summer hit! From his critically acclaimed debut album,“Bimini” to his 25-year retrospective “Silver Collection”, and the recent “Cassini’s Last Dance”, Wollman’s songs, arrangements, and production continue to reach straight into the heart of each listener

Tony Saunders

Two-time Emmy Award winning bassist, composer, producer and son of legendary Bay Area keyboardist, Merl Saunders, Tony Saunders’ life has been infused with one musical adventure after another. As an arranger, producer, composer and performer, Saunders has conquered the worlds of jazz, gospel, R&B, pop, rock and world music. He earned the first of his two Emmys at age 14 for collaborating with his dad on the PBS documentary Soul Is and by 17 was playing with Merl and Jerry Garcia on their collaborative projects. The second was earned for his contribution on the TV show, Digital Journey, on the episode, “China: Their New Digital Economy.” Though he took one of his first musical lessons on piano from Herbie Hancock, the bass he received from John Fogerty’s brother Tom – and watching recording sessions with famed bassists Anthony Davis and Lee Miles - sparked a lifelong passion for that instrument that now, 50 years later, has led to his emergence as a major independent force in contemporary jazz. Saunders graduated from the prestigious Conservatory of Music in San Francisco as a piano player, but has focused on the bass throughout his career, drawing on influences and encouragement of greats like James Jamerson and Stanley Clarke
