Hashima is a band that was formed with the idea to use the concepts of free improvisation in a Jazz Quartet combo. Improvisations are gravitating around original themes as well as presenting the audience with the specific arrangements of less known compositions that are inspiring the band. The group has a specific sonor quality: double bass, saxophone, drums and a semi-acoustic jazz guitar. Four different instruments and sensibilities are found in a form bared of tradicional genre qualities with the content inspired by a faraway abandoned island in Japan – Hashima.
