Filmmaker and Musician

I play upright bass, guitar, drums, banjo, keys, laptop, and percussion. Currently living in NW Philadelphia with my wife and two sons. As a performer I have worked with musicians such as G-Love, Byard Lancaster, Joe Russo of the Duo, fONKSQUISh and Amy Pickard. Career highlights include opening for the Meters and Charlie Hunter at the Fox in Boulder, CO, jamming with Dave Watts, Tony Furtado and David Grier at the Flying Dog in Aspen, CO, and working as house band with my trio The Sidecar Allstars. My group of Philly-area musicians From Cosmos to Chaos released “Newlife” in 2006, and current projects include jazz/funk jam band Mischa Machez and Americana/folk/newgrass quintet Urban Drawl.

In 2010 I produced Reverend Chris' “Fool on the Hill” and we released a live CD with him and Grant MacAvoy on drums in 2011, “Trio.” In 2009 I co-produced Pew Fellow and Grammy nominated pianist Orrin Evans' debut DVD “Live All Over the Place.” Other video efforts include documenting Philadelphia area jazz artists since 2005 at http://youtube.com/phillyphife - over 170 videos including recent work with Jason Moran, Muhal Richard Abrams, and Vijay Iyer. I am a working member on the board of non-profits Jazz Bridge and the Philadelphia Jazz Heritage Project.
