About Me

Casey Golden is a forward-thinking musician based in Sydney. A pianist with a strong personal vision and an expressive yet grounded approach to the instrument, he’s been involved in a wide range of original music ranging from jazz/improvised projects to electronic, pop and film music.

Maintaining a constant presence on the Australian music scene for the past 10 years, he has toured Australia, Asia and the UK and played festivals including Mona Foma, Byron Bay Bluesfest and Wangaratta Jazz Festival. From 2010-2016 Casey led a trio featuring bassist Bill Williams and drummer Ed Rodrigues. The trio built a reputation as a force to be reckoned with and released three albums together: Outliers; Live at Bennetts Lane; and Miniature, with all three receiving high critical praise from publishers including All About Jazz (US), Jazzwise (UK), The Sydney Morning Herald, The Australian and Jazz Journal (UK).

Casey was based in the UK from 2017-2018 and was immersed in the London jazz scene during that time. His 2018 album Atlas features his UK- based quartet.

Casey has been a finalist in the National Jazz Awards, the Bell Awards for Young Australian Jazz Artist of the Year and the APRA Professional Development Awards. He’s also been nominated for a Freedman Fellowship won a BBM Travel Scholarship. He has consistently performed and released original music under his own name and in collaborative projects as well as contributing to many other artists’ endeavours as pianist, keys player, composer and producer.

Currently, Casey is a member/co-leader of improvising trio States of Chaos, featuring old bandmates Williams and Rodrigues. He is also one half of future-electronic/production duo This Week in the Universe. His first solo piano recording Smaller Worlds in due for release in early 2022
