About Me

Born in 1982 in Burgas (Bulgaria), he is the winner of several awards and acclaims. He produced electronic music. For the French outfit Mad’House he recorded several singles and published numerous other artists’ remixes (including “Like a prayer” by Madonna and “Stayin’ Alive” by the Bee Gees). Atanas took part in several collaborations, including live PA’s with Bambim Mukendi (Mad’House) and spent the better part of the decade touring and playing concerts at festivals and clubs in France, Belgium and Poland. His work was also remixed by drum and bass legend Ray Keith. He also played live with many icons of the polish pop and electronic music scene: Novika, Beats Friendly and Reni Jusis. The collaboration with Reni Jusis on the “Magnes” album was awarded a Fryderyk Prize - the Polish Phonographic Industry Award. His musical inspirations root from Balkan and Gypsy music, but are enriched by Slavic melodies and jazz influences. Atanas composes and produces film scores. In 2009 he travelled to Los Angeles on the invitation of Dolby Labs and was treated to a VIP tour of the main scoring stages and music studios in Hollywood. This inside look into the newest trends and technologies used in film music production today makes this artist an expert of his craft. He is inspired by the art of improvisation and this is best exemplified by “Improssessions” – his own live PA project or Transoriental Duo together with Persian artist Jahiar- Azim Irani. Apart from these artistic initiatives, Atanas produces commercial materials for TV and radio ad campaigns, e.g. scoring the entire wp.tv channel, writing the score for the VW Scirocco – “Hard to Resist” ad which was performed by the world famous Babelsberg Orchestra. Atanas Valkov’s music represents a melting pot of Balkan folklore, Polish classical traditions with the novelty of contemporary and electronic music. He expresses his artistic uniqueness, by combining his own style with a mixture of contemporary orchestral arrangements and the expert level of knowledge in music production he has acquired.
