Mercedes Figueras

About Me

At the age of twenty-seven, saxophonist, composer, arranger and leader, Mercedes Figueras has been described by the critics and her peers as an, “exciting musician of extraordinary talent” and “a musician ready to be discovered.”

Mercedes was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1983. Member of the Berklee International Network, Major in Professional Musician. She also studied 4 years of classical music at “Conservatorio Nacional”, Buenos Aires, Argentina.

In 2007 she lead and co-produced her first record, “Elefante”. She hit the road with the duet (sax and drums), playing in Argentina, Colombia, Uruguay and US.

She now resides in New York, US. She’s been playing with different bands at a variety of venues. From Drumadics to Kenny Wollensen and the Himalayas; and from NYC subways to Carnegie Hall, to name a few.

She now assembled and leads tHe BlacK butTeRFLieS, her new project launching her second album “1 de MAYO” recorded Sep 2009 in NYC.
