Dr. LeRoy Henry

Former navy guitarist,, educator, student of Pat Martino

About Me

I am a former Navy guitar player & student at the Berklee College of Music. I live in Las Vegas and have 6 cats. While pursuing my doctorate in education I was studying with the famous guitarist/author Wolf Marshall. I became interested in the work of Pat Martino’s early work. Pat and I had become friends over the years and I followed him all over the United States as a kind of volunteer roadie. I am currently focused on his later work. My teachers include Dr. Lee Eubank, Bertram Turetzky, & Gary Burton.

My Jazz Story

I love jazz because the mood it sets. I was first exposed to jazz as a kid studying with Ted Connor (Duane & Greg Allman's first teacher) in Daytona Beach. I met Pat Martino & we have become friends. The best show I ever attended was Pat Martino @ Filoli The first jazz record I bought was Kind of Blue. My advice to new listeners listen to Coltrane, Martino, & Chet Baker.

My House Concert Story

Former Navy Guitarist, student of Pat Martino, Dr. Lee Eubank, Gary Burton, Bertram Turetzky, Wolf Marshall, & Berklee alumni. Recipient of the Steve Vai scholarship. Graduated cum laude.
