About Me

Ba Freyre was born in north of Brazil. Child of a family of musicians from which he inherited a natural love for music and a unique talent, he started playing the guitar and composing at an early age. During high school he was already performing in music festivals,competing in several music talent shows where he was noticed for his original compositions and his personal style. In university he continued to compete in more prestigious events, often taking first and second places. Notice was taken of his passionate presentation and rich musical approach, paving the way to many performances in nightclubs and inclusion in several bands. At the same time he expanded his creative experience by working with various artists including actors, poets, and musicians. He composed the music for several Brazilian plays. At the age of 22 he moved to Sao Paulo, where he extended his musical skills, working with a number of well-known contemporary artists such as Tom Ze, Zeca Bahia, and Rosemberg Cariry among others. In 1991 he recorded his first album and took part in projects such as “Project Pixinguinha”, “Seis e Meia” and others. In 1992 Ba immigrated to Israel. Within a short time he was performing with local musicians appearing in a number of jazz festivals and performing routinely in night clubs and concert halls. In 1993 he assembled his own band, “Makumba” which aimed at interpreting Brazilian folk music. Then in 1998 he formed “Obioba” where he played his own original compositions. With the “Obioba” participated in the famous and reputable Israel Festivals. As a soloist, he participated in great events, such as the opening of the Fest of Brazilian Cinema in Israel. In 2004 he performed with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, interpreting Tom Jobim. Racha organized various events of Brazilian music in Israel. Ba has made appearances a number of European countries and continues to expand his creative endeavors around the world.
