About Me
Jim Lutz makes music with his trombones, bass, and keyboards in the greater NYC area. He
composes and produces music for a wide variety of clients around the world, and for his YouTube
channel, Twitch livestream, Patreon page, Bandcamp site, and other outlets. Originally from central
Michigan, Jim has appeared on stages, in recording studios, and in broadcast media in dozens of
cities around the world including London, Paris, Tokyo, Los Angeles, and of course New York. His
credits include Cirque du Soleil, Disney, and the TONY® and EMMY® award-winning production
Blast!
Jim's musical journey began when he was 4 years old with his first piano lesson. He loves to make
music that helps to tell a story, to stir emotions, and to bring a little bit more beauty into our world.
From 2010-2015, Jim was the music director and played trombone, bass trombone, keyboards,
sequences, and sound effects on Cirque du Soleil's Kooza. You can see a glimpse of Jim's work on
Kooza here. More recently, Jim was the associate conductor and trombonist for Cirque du Soleil's
Paramour in New York, served as associate music supervisor for Cirque du Soleil's Paramour das
Musical in Hamburg, Germany, and was the Ableton Designer for Cirque du Soleil's Twas The Night
Before.
Jim earned a master's degree in jazz studies at the University of Southern California while serving
as a teaching assistant. He also earned a bachelor's degree in music education from Central
Michigan University.
