A jazz fan and freelance jazz writer in Bangalore, India
I first encountered jazz in the early 1960s on the Voice of America's legendary jazz programme. In the late 1980s, when working on a newspaper in Bangalore, I was asked to cover a jazz festival although I knew nothing about jazz (but liked it tremendously). I took up the challenge and started learning about jazz. I'm still learning.
