Matt Wigler

Matt Wigler has been called "a sensational keyboardist for any age", and at age 19, plays with maturity, skill and versatility well beyond his years.

About Me

Matt Wigler is a jazz pianist, organist, singer, and composer from Baltimore, Maryland. Born in 1994, he began playing piano at age 5, and even then revealed his talent for improvisation. At age 8, Matt met a musician at a camp who introduced him to jazz and blues, and that is when he discovered his passion. This gifted, young artist has maturity, skill and versatility well beyond his years.

Matt has performed at notable venues in the Washington DC area including the Kennedy Center, Strathmore Music Center and Blues Alley. He has also played at festivals throughout the US and Canada, including the Monterey Bay Blues Festival (CA), Beaches International Jazz Festival (Toronto), Telluride Jazz Festival (CO), DC Jazz Festival (DC), and Artscape (MD).

In 2010, Matt was selected as an Artist in Residence at Strathmore, a renowned music center in the Washington DC area. The Matt Wigler Trio was nominated in 2010 for best jazz group by the Washington DC Music Association (WAMA).

Matt’s two CDs, Thirteen and Epiphony, have received outstanding reviews. “Matt Wigler's music is far beyond his youthful years, very sophisticated, and complex, yet extremely accessible. Look for a very bright future for Mr. Wigler.” (Bob Putignano, President, New York Jazz & Blues Society, WFDU host). His recent CD Other Mammals features an organ trio with Matt on the Hammond B3. Matt’s CDs are available at CD Baby and iTunes.
