About Me

Tara Nurin is a freelance journalist based in Camden, NJ, just outside of Philadelphia, PA. After receiving her master’s degree from the Northwestern University Medill School of Journalism, she spent her early career as an on-air television news reporter, producer and substitute anchor in Charlottesville, VA, Memphis, TN and Philadelphia. In 2005 she left TV to work for herself as a freelance reporter and documentary producer.

She is currently the weekly nightlife columnist for the principle South Jersey daily newspaper; a nationally published features reporter specializing in craft beer, dining trends and travel/leisure; the co-host of the internationally broadcast cable and Internet show “Still Crazy After All These Beers”; and the producer of a feature-length documentary entitled “The Barrel of a Gun.” She has also worked as the Philadelphia editor for the national city-destinations website www.citysearch.com, the dating columnist for a suburban weekly; the author/editor of a book about World War II veterans; and the director/producer of several documentaries.

Tara has won numerous awards for her work, including the second-place prize for Magazine Feature Writing from the New Jersey Society of Professional Journalists in 2008 and a bronze Magnum Opus award for Best School/University Publication in 2009. Tara is fluent in Spanish and French and has lived in Paris and around the country.
