Dave loves photographing both jazz and wildlife.
I'm was born and raised in Montreal, Canada, home to a magnificent jazz festival. Like many of my generation, I was turned on to jazz in the fusion years and was particularly influenced by Jeff Beck's great albums, “Blow by Blow” and “Wired”. I moved on to explore other forms of jazz and enjoy everything from hard bop to free jazz and beyond. I moved to Berkeley, California in 1996 and was exposed to a very interesting and diverse Bay Area jazz scene. In 2001, I returned to the East Coast, landing in New York City. Needless to say, that city is home to a very rich musical environment and an insanely great jazz club scene. I've been writing about jazz since the mid 1990s, but in recent years, jazz photography has become my primary obsession.
