“Junji Delfino started singing at the age of four and by the age of ten her father, himself a renowned Filipino jazz musician and composer, was sneaking her into jazz clubs. It was here that Junji became infused with jazz – its melancholy yet exuberant love of life, its scatty sense of humour, its love of playful improvisation while remaining true to achingly beautiful melodies, its sudden switches from madcap to melancholy. All this can be found in the way Junji sings. Her voice teases you with its humour and moves you with its tenderness. And this is what makes Junji a true jazz singer.”
