Trumpeter/Composer/Educator Adam Meckler is an active member of the Twin Cities Jazz Scene and tours all around the world with Ropeadope Records' A Love Electric.
Trumpeter, composer and educator, Adam Meckler graduated from Lawrence University in Appleton, WI in 2007 with a degree in trumpet performance and an emphasis in jazz studies. He was a member of LU's Downbeat award winning Jazz Ensemble (2007) under the direction of Fred Sturm. He was also the recipient of LU’s prestigious jazz composition award being inducted in to the Pi Kappa Lambda Honor Society, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia’s Leadership in Music award. Adam is currently finishing up his Masters Degree in Trumpet Performance at the University of Minnesota where he studies trumpet with Dr. David Baldwin, and jazz composition with Dean Sorenson.
Adam and his wife - singer - Jana (Nyberg) currently live in Saint Paul, MN. Adam has had the pleasure of playing with two-time Downbeat Award winning Fatbook, the Stan Bann Big Band, Nova Jazz Orchestra, and The Evan Montgomery Quintet, and plays regularly with the Adam Meckler Quintet, The Jana Nyberg Group, The Jack Brass Band, Todd Clouser’s A Love Electric, Lulu’s Playground, and The Century Brass Quintet. Adam composes for jazz small groups and big bands, but also writes for woodwind quartet, quintet, and brass quintet settings. He has appeared as a sideman on several recordings including The Jana Nyberg Group’s self-titled album, The Jack Brass Band’s upcoming 2011 release, and as a guest soloist with The Nova Jazz Orchestra. You can hear Adam most extensively on his quintet’s debut release, For Dad.
In October of 2010, Adam was published in the ITG (International Trumpet Guild) Journal on his work with trumpeter Rex Richardson.
