Mauro Satalino

About Me

Argentinean drummer and percussionist Mauro Satalino is part of a generation of young musicians engaged in exploring creative and rich links between jazz and the vast South-American traditional music. An active performer and educator, his versatility allows him to be part of different situations and move around styles such as Jazz, Pop, Funk and South-American rhythms.

Mauro started his musical voyage at the age of seven, first learning how to play the organ in Venezuela. Later, he attended to the Simon Bolivar Conservatory in Maracay and studied classical guitar. Back in Argentina he involved into the jazz and Afro-South-American scene both as a drummer and percussionist.

In the year 2000, with a scholarship from Berklee College of Music, he moved to Boston to expand his musical frontiers. He had the great opportunity to learn and shared stages with amazing teachers and performers: Mugrew Miller, Danilo Perez, Hal Crook, Ian Froman, Ed Tomassi, Mark Walker, Jeff Galindo, Kenwood Dennard and Jon Hazilla.

After graduating magna cum laude with a B.A. in Music Performance, he moved to New York in 2004, where he has been an active menber of the Latin-American and Jazz scene, He has been part of different endeavors collaborating with musicians and producers such as: Ithaal Shur (Carlos Santana’s Supernatural, Smooth), Keith Goldman (Eminen, Chaka Khan, Yossou n'Dour),Rosario Dawson (Rent), UN Choir Ambassadors, Calpulli Dance Company, Blue Man Group, Anna Saeki, Jaleel Shaw, Jesus Santandreu, Pablo Aslan, Raul Jaurena (Grammy Winner) Cecilia “ElJuri”, Alexandra Samsonova, Carlos Franzetti. He has been sideman of famous singer from South-America and Spain, such as: Jose Luis “El Puma” Rodriguez, Juan Bau, Lorenzo Santamaria, Leo Dan, Jeanette, Coral, Tranzas, “Palito” Ortega, Eduardo Franco, just to name a few. He has been playing in large venues and stages; he played in the Argentinean Rock and Pop Festival in Miami for over 10.000 souls. Since 2005 he has been part of ”Multicultural Music Group” where he delivers performances and music training to inner city kids throughout the New York Area. He has toured U.S, Europe and Canada.
