Kestutis Stanciauskas

Composer/ Fretless Electric bass/Performer

About Me

My compositions are constructed as platforms for improvisation. My compositions are sonic, rhythmic, melodic and tonal suggestions for musicians to improvise and in the Jazz sense improvise in order to create their own compositions. A sort of canvas actually. Because of my intense interest in the music of all cultures I try to incorporate these diverse elements into my work. You sent I am not interested in being constrained by particular genres or styles of music. Rather I see all forms of music as an opportunity to paint in order to include musicians who are capable and interested in sharing and exploring these possibilities. I have sharex stages with a broad spectrum of great artists including Miles Davis, Chick Corea, Jean Luc Ponty, The World Saxophone Quartet, John Scofield, Pat Martino, Otis Rush as well as Vieux Farka Toure among other American and European musicians. I was able to listen and see their interest in including a wide spectrum of musical cultural perspectives and disciplines while at the same time presenting a canvas that maintained each musicians unique musical vocabulary.
