About Me
My Jazz Story
I love jazz because of the improvisation, inventiveness, complexity, and swing. I was first exposed to jazz when I picked up Kind Of Blue by Miles Davis. I met Stefon Harris in a History of Jazz class I took when I was in college. The best show I ever attended was Directions in Music: A Tribute to Miles Davis and John Coltrane, with Herbie Hancock, Michael Brecker, Roy Hargrove, and Brian Blades. The first jazz record I bought was Kind of Blue by Miles Davis. My advice to new listeners is find the niche in jazz that you really like, and then slowly broaden your horizons from there.
