Jocelyn Medina

Vocalist/composer Jocelyn Medina has performed in music venues and jazz festivals around the world presenting her diverse repertoire fusing elements of Brazil, Spain, and Africa with jazz harmonies, pop styles, funk grooves and adventurous improvisations.

About Me

Jocelyn Medina is a vocalist and composer versed in jazz, Brazilian, Spanish and African music. Originally from upstate NY, she holds a BA from Berklee College of Music and completed her masters in vocal jazz at Manhattan School of Music. Between schools, Jocelyn spent four years living abroad in Madrid, Spain, where she recorded and independently produced her first full-length CD of original compositions, “The Journey Begun.”

Jocelyn has performed in clubs and jazz festivals throughout the United States, Europe and Brazil. Her most recent NY appearances have been at venues such as 55 Bar, Cornelia Street Café, Cachaça, the Bar Next Door, and Lincoln Center, in addition to a performance at Carnegie Hall with Calpulli’s Music of Mexico. In addition to her work as a professional singer and voice instructor, Jocelyn directs her creative attention to composing, arranging, and lyric writing, and drums with the NJ-based Rhythm Monsters West African percussion ensemble.
