About Me
Ravi Padmanabha is a multi instrumentalist/improviser/composer specializing in
percussion. He has studied tabla in India with Pandit Sharda Sahai and Pandit Samar Saha.
He also plays the Indian banjo-keyboard and has studied sarangi with Pandit Ramesh
Misra. Ravi has performed on drum set for 25 years and got his early training at Buffalo’s
historic Colored Musicians Club. Since then he had spent 6 years in NYC and has recently
returned to Buffalo. Ravi has performed with William Parker, Robert Dick, Daniel
Carter,Cooper-Moore, Junni booth Paul Flaherty, Douglas Ewart, Butch Morris, Ustad Sabir
Khan, and many others.
In 2008 Ravi and Steve Baczkowski released “DOH TALA” with flute maestro Robert Dick.
He regularly performs with his brothers in “Family FUNKtion & the Sitar Jams” and in a duo
with Steve Baczkowski. He has performed at International Music festivals in Scotland,
Canada and the United States. Ravi currently leads his own quartet called My Nada
Brahma.
