About Me

Miss Nana was born in Seoul, Korea and is a song stylist with extensive experience in the music industry. She has a Korean Folk Music background with her beginning roots in the guitar at a young age. Nana has been singing and composing music for the past fifteen years. In Korea, she was the winner of the prestigious radio contest Best New Singer with the “Song Bird's Dream”. She wrote the lyrics and performed on the nation wide SBS-TV drama “Hae Bing”. In 1997 Nana decided to move to the United States and study jazz at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. While at Berklee she studied with such jazz greats such as vocalists Kevin Mahogany, Sheryl Bentine (of “Manhattan Transfer” fame), the inspiring vocalist Lisa Thorson and Mark Murphy (upon her arrival to New York). After her graduation, she moved to New York and has performed at various venues in the city with such great musicians as Joris Teepe, Toru Dodo, Ron Affif, Ron Jackson and Doug Richardson, to name a few. Her musical influences are Ella Fitzgerald, Carmen McRae, Sarah Vaughn, Miles Davis, Shirley Horn and Betty Carter.
