About Me
Musical life of Ediz Hafızoglu, who was born in Silistra/Bulgaria on 19 September 1980
started with his father’s teaching him how to play darbuka and especially with his
learning to play saz as a result of the insistence of his grandfather.
He participated in “Sakin Tuna Art Group” in 1992 founded by his grandfather Mumun
Musaoglu and played for about two years in the festivals in many towns and cities of
Bulgaria and won awards in competitions. He migrated to Turkey at the end of 1994 and
started his education in Kabatas Boys’ High School. He met with drum in this school. He
participated in the selections and learned to play the drum and stayed in the band for 4
years. He won championships in many competitions with Kabatas Boys’ School band.
In 2000, when he met Senol Kücükyildirım, he experienced many musical changes. In the
same year, he won Mimar Sinan University Industrial Products Design Department and
studied there for 3 years. He started to play in clubs professionally with various groups
while continuing his study. When he understood that the only thing he wanted to do was
music, he decided to leave Mimar Sinan University and in 2003 he won Istanbul Bilgi
University Jazz Performance Department with full scholarship. He had found chance to
study with Ricky Ford, Cengiz Baysal, Donovan Mixon, Can Kozlu and Selen Gülün. He also
took private lessons from Aydin Esen. Many changes occurred after he met Ricky Ford in
school. He gave many concerts in many festivals and Jazz Club in Turkey and France with
Ricky Ford Orchestra. Especially, after the concerts in Paris Selmer and Archipel, they
received invitation again from Paris and performed in Lionel Hampton Jazz Club for three
nights successively.
He still performs with great musicians in different clubs and festivals like Nardis Jazz
Club, Babylon, Istanbul Jazz Center, Gramofon in different countries -Turkey, France,
