Michael Anthony Shanks brings the funk.
Michael began his personal jazz odyssey while studying with John Edwards Ross in Texas. From there, his music has taken him to some pretty crazy places. In Austin Michael founded the genre bending “jazz garage” group, Ruby's Jazz Garage in 2006. In 2008 he moved to Argentina to play with the Mr. Jones Blues Band and tour Patagonia with jazz singer, Carla della Maggiora. Skip ahead to Seattle 2010 and Michael is playing with the legendary Jovino Santos Neto in Seattle and jamming at the famed Lucid Jazz Lounge as well as the free jazz haven, Cafe Racer. Currently he resides in his hometown of Houston and is getting back to his roots and taking his music into a deeper shade of funk.
