Multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, composer, improviser, studio engineer.
About Me
Amy Denio is a multi-instrumentalist composer, singer and music producer based in
Seattle, Washington USA.
She started her record label Spoot Music in 1986, and has recorded & released more than
35 collaborative or solo CDs.
She has been commissioned to write music for dance, theater and film in the United States
and Europe for the last 25 years.
She has created music with artists from North America, Europe, Brazil, Japan, Taiwan,
India, and Russia.
She has been awarded many grants and fellowships, and received a NYC Bessie Award for
her soundtrack ‘Sky Down’ for David Dorfman Dance.
Her artistic collaborations have been seen and heard at Carnegie Hall, the Brooklyn
Academy of Music, Seattle Opera House, Detroit Institute of Art, Venice Biennale, Roman
Theater Trieste, and on top of 3 Metro Busses in Seattle.
She’s a formative member of Tone Dogs, Tiptons Sax Quartet and Kultur Shock, and
has
collaborated with KMFDM, Il parto delle Nuvole Pesanti, Guy Klucevsek, Fred Frith, Tom
Cora, rapper Chuck D. and 25 students at the Camphor Tree School in Taipei, Taiwan. She
has performed at festivals, clubs, schools, prisons, social centers and ruins throughout
Europe, North America and Asia.
