Lindsey Muir

Lindsey Muir's sweet, smoky style is all about a young, expressive singer hunkering deep down inside the heart of a song's lyrics and melody.

About Me

I am a classically trained vocalist, and was born and raised in Litchfield, CT. I recently relocated to NYC to further my jazz career. I hadn't really considered making a record until shortly before I graduated from the University of Connecticut with a degree in music, when I discovered a song that my grandfather had written for my grandmother in the late 30's when they were first married. Thus began the one-year project of finding the right pieces and musicians for an album. With help from saxophonist/arranger Don Braden, pianist David Berkman, guitarist Mark Whitfield, bassist John Benitez, drummer Winard Harper, and trumpeter, Terell Stafford, I recorded the 11 tracks found on my debut, “You're Nearer: Love Songs of the '30s and '40s,” which was released in August of 2005.
