Ademola Adegun

Ademola grew up in Lagos, Nigeria. Born into a musical family

About Me

Ademola grew up in Lagos, Nigeria. Born into a musical family, his father was the church organist and encouraged all of his children to play instruments. At the age of ten Ademola started playing the drums. He later switched to stringed instruments. He joined a church musical band at age fifteen where he played the guitar. After finishing a college degree in electrical engineering he joined several different local bands and developed interest in playing the bass. A visit to Wood House and Jazzville, two of Lagos' premier jazz cafe's, sparked a love for jazz that has driven his musical directions ever since. He went on to perform with several top Nigerian and international artists, sit in on studio recordings and live concert performances.

Ademola moved to America in the mid 90's to get a degree in computer networking in Maryland. He continued to hone his musical style by playing, recording with and producing several local jazz and blues artists. He was active in his church music group, helping to arrange and perform songs.

In 2003 Ade made one more move to Minnesota where he works in network administration, and is studying once again to move into the filed of cyber security. He continues to play and record jazz and produce for local artists. Ade is also involved in his church, where he leads music with his wife.

His most recent project is the solo album, “Speak Out”. The album is the realization of a dream that has been two years in the making. A fusion of jazz and afro rhythms, “Speak Out” artfully combines the his homeland with his musical prowess. He continues to write music and is already working on recording for another album.
