Marcia Hillman

Jazz is in her soul

About Me

Started writing poetry at age ten. Couldn't make them rhyme until I seriously started writing lyrics in the 1960s. Have had at least 40 of my songs recorded on different labels by singers including Nancy Wilson, Merry Clayton, LaVerne Butler and Giacomo Gates. Have always loved jazz. Wrote for the now defunct Cash Box Magazine. Did and still do liner copy for various record companies. Continue to do CD and performance reviews and liner copy. Spent a lot of years in the recording industry, so I know both the administrative and creative sides of the business. Also, met and continue to meet a lot of wonderfully talented people. Consider myself a non-performing musician. My words are pretty much my instrument.
