Char has received 2 nominations for the 2008 NEW MUSIC AWARDS hosted by New Music Weekly which will be held in Hollywood, CA on Nov. 22nd. The two categories are Best New Adult Contemporary Artist and Best Crossover Artist of the Year. After attaining her Masters degree from Oklahoma State University, she began in depth study on guitar at Phillips University. In 1989 she became the guitar instructor for the Fine Arts Department at Phillips University. Char began working on her debut album in March of 2007, finished the recording project in August and released “Secrets of the Heart” CD on November 10, 2007. Musicians that played on the CD were: Char Butler sang lead vocals, played acoustic guitar and clarinet. Amber Lacey Whitworth sang secondary lead vocals. Ken Mary played drums, percussion and strings. Krys Van Slyke played bass. Mike Kaminski played keyboards. Joe Rusinek played electric guitar and additional acoustic guitar. Programming was done by Ken Mary and Jim Korakis. The album was co-produced by Ken Mary and Char Butler. Char is currently performing with Amber Lacey Whitworth and Jack (Doc) Butler. Radio Airplay is available at this time from stations in the United States; promoter Larry Weir through Heartland Entertainment, The Music Reps in the Netherlands and many internet stations.
