Robert Iannapollo

Robert Iannapollo is based in Rochester, NY and is a regular contributor to Cadence, Signal To Noise, AAJ a/o.

About Me

I started listening seriously to jazz as a high schooler around 1968. There was always music around the house, my dad and brother played guitar, sister was the church organist and I played mediocre piano.

I've written for Cadence for the past 20 years. Other magazines: Signal To Noise, AAJ, Opprobrium a/o. Contributed bios to the Grove Dictionary Of Jazz. Have written liner notes for John Tchicai, Herb Robertson, Loren Mazzacane Connors, D.M. Visotzky, Nu Band and others.

Based in Rochester, NY (that's upstate, folks)and work part time at one of the hippest record stores on the East Coast: The Bop Shop.

Like all kinds of music but jazz from all eras is my main source of sustenance. If I'm not in the mood for jazz (a rare occurence), Hindi film soundtracks usually fill the bill, especially those from the 1960s-1980s. (R.D. Burman rules)
